Li Min, design director of Chengdu Yi Zhu Yimei Design Institute, has never been single and rigid in her pursuit of design. So, what achievements and pursuits does she have in the field of design?

[NetEase Home] Why did you enter the design industry? What are your ambitions for your design career?
[Li Min]: I majored in design and entered this industry directly after graduation. Regarding the design career, I hope to be able to focus on my own studio and make my profession better. From a professional perspective, I hope that future planning can move in a more professional direction. Leading the development of the entire company with design as the leading factor.
[NetEase Home] As a designer, what do you most hope to bring to consumers through design?
[Li Min]: As a designer, I hope to convey a contemporary lifestyle through design. Nowadays, new consumer forces such as those born in the 70s, 80s, and 90s have certain requirements in terms of quality. Rather than making unnecessary designs, I hope to bring life changes to contemporary young people through design, and at the same time convey to them the way they understand home.

[Netease Home] What is your design concept? How does your work tie into this design philosophy?
[Li Min]: The design concept I follow is based on the actual needs of Party A’s family. Regarding the design source of each family, the designer should put himself in the shoes and deeply integrate the design with Party A. Really understand this family, understand what this home is really suitable for, and design based on their own needs. What suits them is the best.

[NetEase Home] What do you think are the differences between Chengdu’s design and other cities across the country that have outstanding performance in design? In what aspects are the advantages and disadvantages reflected? Specific to the interior design level, do Party A’s needs have certain regional characteristics?
[Li Min]: The current situation in Chengdu is no less than that of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, although Shenzhen’s design is more advanced than in previous years. But with the development in recent years, Chengdu has also caught up with the forefront of design. Different from urban design, Chengdu itself is a city of relaxation and leisure, so the people here will be more casual and lazy. In terms of advantages and disadvantages, the definitions actually vary from person to person. Due to regional cultural differences, Chengdu tends to choose innovative materials for construction.
[NetEase Home] Where does the inspiration for your design works come from? What factors had a big influence on the formation of your design language?
[Li Min]: Inspiration is the accumulation of daily life. As a designer, I will find some insights from life experience through overseas study tours and traveling to different countries and cities. For the works of outstanding designers, I will pay more attention to the language behind the design, deal with the details, and feel the inspiration of the work from the design language.
[NetEase Home] In your opinion, what are the conditions and advantages of good design?
[Li Min]: Benevolent people have different opinions. They have certain experience in life and can bring experience design to better Party A.
[NetEase Home] Who is the design master you admire most? What kind of designer do you want to be?
[Li Min]: Jeffrey Bawa, a designer who advocates nature, looks forward to becoming a responsible designer who takes into account family, career and life.
[NetEase Home] What are your future plans for your design company?
[Li Min]: It doesn’t need to be very large. Based on the design as the leading direction, the design can be refined and beautiful.
